The Institute for Integrated Research in Materials, Environments, and Society (IIRMES) serves to embrace and extend existi
ng interdisciplinary research collaborations between faculty and students from the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) and the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) at California State University Long Beach (CSULB). The principal goal of IIRMES is to enhance the educational and research opportunities of students and faculty members who wish to pursue academic studies in a new interdisciplinary field that attempts to integrate the physical, natural and social sciences.
IIRMES contributes to the emergence and development of a responsive research and educational program involving students and faculty members from colleges across campus and acts as a focal point of scholastic collaboration to recruit and retain students and faculty who wish to gain a better perspective of the origins of the universe and the evolution of life and human society.
